Kishu Binchotan is a high quality traditional charcoal that promotes healthy forest management. Its history stretches from the Heian period, and Minabe town is one of the top producers in Japan. At the Kishu Bichotan Promotion Center, you can learn about its history, culture, and manufacturing technology, as well as participate in some workshops.
Goods for sale include socks incorporating charcoal, and some flavors of charcoal ice cream.
